One of the primary goals of my artwork is to use both visual art and music composition as tools in expressing ideas relating to human interaction. The relationship between the music I write and the visual artwork most often is the focal point of each piece.  The artwork may become a visual notation of the music, or it may be used to emphasize broader themes through the use of metaphor or numerical representation.  The work draws on a wide variety of visual imagery; at times representing the subject matter using cultural iconography, while in other pieces using a limited palette of linear shapes and geometric forms.  These elements are configured in such a way as to illustrate statistical and numerical evidence that touch on themes ranging from nationality identity to social responsibility.

Much of the sculptural work may be viewed as props or tools used in an activity or performance. Sleds, steel obstacles, and board games I have constructed each have been used by performers to compete against each other to show how objects can influence outcome in a competitive environment. The results of these performances, as well as the objects used within them, are exhibited as a form of visual documentation.

Photography, drawings, and text are all used to further convey what is happening in the work to the viewer.  All of these elements combined are used to both illustrate larger social, as well as explore the relationship between music composition and visual art.
